YOUR CAMPER’S SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY.
comprehensive safety plan
Our safety plan covers abuse prevention, staff screening, weather safety, medical care, and clear emergency procedures to ensure your camper is well protected while at Hidden Falls Ranch.
ABUSE PREVENTION
Each staff member completes MinistrySafe training (renewed every two years) and undergoes a background check and interview process. Staff receive additional child sexual awareness abuse prevention training during their staff training week.
STAFF SCREENING
In addition to MinistrySafe training, all of the staff are interviewed and must meet a rigorous background check, including a Department of Public Safety background check, a sex offender background check, and must submit 4 references that are checked as well. Our counselor to camper ratio is 1 to 3, and oftentimes 1 to 2.
WEATHER SAFETY
All of our staff are trained on what to do during the event of a fire or severe weather. In the event of severe weather, we have a storm shelter that can accommodate all of our staff and campers.
MEDICAL CARE
We always have a medical professional on site with a walkie talkie so we can get ahold of them promptly. All of our staff are First Aid and CPR certified. Our nurse’s office has a private room for sick campers to sleep in, if required. All medications for campers and staff are distributed by one of our medical staff.
emergency procedures
Our staff are trained on evacuation plans and what to do in specific weather situations. During staff training week, they get to practice what to do in a session we call “Scenarios”. All of our leadership staff have walkie talkies so that we can effectively communicate throughout camp if we need to relay important information.
